The Story of MY ART: MY PERFECT TIMING
Let’s Talk About Timing!
Growing up, art always came naturally to me. It was an easy ‘A’ every year in school, earning me awards and some 2nd place finishes in contests. I was even promoted to Advanced Art: Phase 2. During my senior year of high school, I decided to step away from traditional art for a while and explore another form of creativity— cosmetology. After traditional art, the beauty industry has always been my other love.
For years, paper was my canvas. It is an inanimate object, patient, and didn’t have anywhere to be. If I wanted to spend 10+ hours perfecting a piece, I could, because it was just paper. But my canvas has changed. Now, I have the privilege of working on some of the most beautiful and kind faces. Unlike paper, my new canvas has places to be, and I can’t take 10+ hours (even though I wish I could!). Two different canvases, both handled with the same level of care and intricacy.
That’s why whenever I hear, “It doesn’t have to be perfect”, I start to cringe because yes, it does lol! My point is, please know that every detail comes from a place of passion and dedication. Every now and then while working, someone will ask if I know how to draw, and I think its so cool how they can spot that! You will be sitting on my chair for a good minute, but I promise— it’s always worth it in the end. And as always, “You cant rush art!”
